Command and Control Software

The word application can mean anything from a network aware wrist watch device or cell phone to a business program on a regular desktop computer.

Mandates, Memos and policies do not move fast enough and easily become outdated with the next situation.  Imagine having all of your people set foot the precise moment you order it.  How long does it take your company to act?  Most people are still in the Dark Ages, new information is gained but where is it?  How long before you act on it?  How long before your people implement it?  Time is money.  Stop wondering what is going on.

Plus Ultra is a conceptual design of a software system for managing operations in detail from a central location.

Network Accessible and Network Based

Direct your manager by communicating with their management system, managers report all information to CC through their application.  You are always abreast if you want or need to be.  If the managers are out you can direct the labor force through the manager's application by feeding them instructions based on the notes and information kept by the managers in their application.  At worst if managers lie or do not report all information you are no worse off than without the system as they would not be reliable anyway.  a new manager can be elected from the managers notes on employees, the possibilities are endless.

Data Servers and Process Servers able to accept new functionality with a emphasis on communication over secure private nested "channels" between applications.

Loosely coupled data-central system that manages communication between operational units in a pre-defined fashion.  Various end-line or end-user applications can be developed consisting of hand held status devices to regular desktop business applications. 

Give EVERYONE a "place on the system" so that central management can communicate and direct all operational people in real-time if they need to.  Regular employees for instance can have wrist watches that are able to utilize (receive) basic services from the central server. 

All applications (services or functions) will be visible and accessible (in some appropriate manner) from the main control center wherever it chooses to be (replicated, mirrored or moved).

Main reason is to maintain continuity and eliminate certain communication bottlenecks that can hamper an organization with limited staff due to some unforeseen event.  Will also allow a small command to control vast resources with ease.

Plus Ultra will try to incorporate all services available for communication with no limits as to scope.  Wireless phone technology, internet, radio (transmitting of information & commands to workers), satellite and other various protocols with possibility of integration with modern computing systems.  For instance HAM radio could be explored for development of simple communication sequences and decoding of radio signals into personal computing devices (wrist watch) much like a modem does with analog phone signals.

Video and Audio can be fed to CC, CC can then control or provide informational services/support through collection of information by other people/services in the field.  Effectively coordinating two, three, etc teams who are dedicated to separate (logically, geographically) tasks.  CC can watch whole situations develop and be able to direct them to success on a global scale in real time.  If appropriate, signals can be shared or fed to devices/people able to accept them by CC.

Standard protocol for information exchange:

Request For Update

CC logs a RFU to the manager's application the manager sees the RFU come up and notes the instructions.

Manager fires an update from his application (responds) to CC system when available

CC receives the update and it is processed according to how it was configured (Priority?)

CC may have other tasks based on the reply programmed for different situations resulting from the information in the reply

Most applications will not employ human interaction to initiate information updates, most will be fired by the software behind the scenes whenever a new "transaction" is generated (desired information)
