You need Java 1.5 (Java 5)  or greater to run the software offered here.

If you have a newer computer Java 1.5.0 is likely pre-installed by the OEM.  Dell, for example installs a recent version of the Java Runtime Environment on new systems.

Why?

Java allows everyone around the world to run applications (programs) developed with Java; regardless of their operating system or hardware brand.  Java is the technology powering your space program, online banking (www.53.com) or favorite website like eBay.

When applications are created with Java they can be run on ANY computer; not just Windows.  Next time you purchase software ask to see if it was created with Java or some other old technology.  Otherwise your stuck on Windows and will be less likely to choose one of several (much cheaper & nicer) up and coming operating systems like Mac OS X (for PC) or Linux for your business or home.

Data Virtue chooses to develop with Java because it allows everyone to use the software whether they are rich or poor; real freedom.

Java = Choices    (Old technology = MS Windows or nothing)

Microsoft has been trying to sabotage Java on Windows for years, only by court order is Java able to run freely on Windows.  Maybe you have heard of .net?  That was Microsoft's attempt to roll over Java. It won't be on any space missions anytime soon though (never).

Wow!

Java is STILL powering NASA's 'Spirit and Opportunity' mission to Mars which continues to send back data.
